Chemlease® 2688W Water-Based Composite Lay-up Tack Aid

Chemlease® 2688W is a water-based specialty release agent designed to significantly improve lay-up adhesion for composite parts, especially with low tack prepregs and surfacing films. It also acts as a crucial tack aid for process materials like fine-line and masking tapes. This product ensures your materials stay in place, enhancing overall molding efficiency.

Enhance your composite molding process with Chemlease® 2688W. This unique water-based specialty release agent acts as a superb composite lay-up tack aid. It truly improves adhesion for challenging composite parts. Furthermore, it works wonderfully with low tack prepregs and surfacing films. Trust Chem Trend for your specialized needs.

Boost Adhesion for Difficult Materials

Chemlease® 2688W is specifically engineered to improve the bonding of process aid materials. For instance, it is ideal for fine-line, masking, bag sealant, and double-sided tapes. Therefore, it ensures these critical materials stay precisely where you need them during the molding process. This product offers reliable performance.

However, it is vital to remember its role. Chemlease® 2688W complements existing water-based release systems. Indeed, it acts as a temporary composite lay-up tack aid. It helps facilitate easy lay-up of both composite and process materials. It is important to note that it has limited release capabilities. Thus, it should not serve as a primary release agent. Use it wisely for optimal results.

Effortless Application of Your Composite Lay-up Tack Aid

Applying Chemlease® 2688W is a simple process. First, ensure your mold is clean, sealed, and already prepared with appropriate Chemlease® products. Then, follow these straightforward steps for best results. This method ensures a smooth and effective application. Consequently, you will achieve excellent adhesion.

  • Saturate a clean, lint-free cloth thoroughly with Chemlease® 2688W.
  • Wipe apply a light, even coat to the desired mold areas.
  • If applying at room temperature, allow a few seconds. Then, promptly wipe off any remaining product with a second clean cloth to speed up drying.
  • Wait a minimum of 15 minutes for the product to cure completely.
  • Apply a second coat using the same method. Afterwards, wait another 15 minutes before using the mold for production.
  • For quick touch-ups, a single coat applied as described above is sufficient.

The recommended number of coats and cure times are general guidelines. They are found sufficient in a broad spectrum of molding conditions. Nevertheless, extreme geometries or low-humidity conditions might require adjustments. You may need to extend cure times. Furthermore, increasing the number of coats applied can also be necessary. Tape tests and experimentation will best determine the efficiency of the release film. Always conduct these to optimize your process.

Proper storage is also crucial for Chemlease® 2688W. Avoid storing it above 40°C/104°F for extended periods. The optimal storage temperature range is between 10-29°C/50-85°F. Importantly, keep it from freezing. Always keep the container tightly sealed. This prevents evaporation and potential contamination. Your product will remain effective with careful storage. This ensures reliable composite lay-up tack aid performance.
